So close but yet so far!

Colm [local farmer] had told me the story of the tragedy of the Brig St. John and alerted me to the memorial at the local church. The brig was lost in a huge storm just off the coast of Massachusetts in October 1849, having sailed out of the pier between Lettermullan and Furnace island the previous month.
