Carrickarede island is connected to the mainland by the world famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. One of Northern Ireland's top tourist attractions it is operated by the National Trust but unfortunately on Tuesday evening 23/5/2017 vandals made an attempt to cut the rope which has resulted in its closure for some days. According to its web site fisherman some 350 years ago connected to the island in the same manner. Trackback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/2055/comment/19528/
