Approaches
From Dublin take the N11 south to Kilmacanoge and then the R755 to Roundwood then forking left after Laragh on the road to Glenmalure. At Glenmalure there is a cross roads with the Glenmalure Lodge to the left. Take the road to the right which leads to a carpark at Baravore which is the start of this walk.
If conditions aren't suitable for this walk, there are various other interesting routes, for example up the "Table Track" to the pass between Table Mtn and Camenabologue.

Start
From the carpark look up to the cliffs NE. That's the general direction! The upper part of the slope rises at around 70% gradient however with care it is perfectly possible to do it. (Though not recommended if there is a heavy snow covering.) One way you can go is to walk upstream on the NE side of the river for around 160m then after passing the worst of the furze turn right along an old wall. At the highest point of the wall start up. Choose your route carefully to minimise furze and cliff. For interest see if you can find an apparent small shelter at T06759 94493 (Point A) ( alt 333m). Eventually you get out of the U valley and can walk to Lugduff, a rounded bump on a ridge extending from Mullacor to Conavalla.

Points visited
From Lugduff the route immediately descends into the Glenealo valley (the valley which leads into the well known Glendalough). The route goes to the footbridge over the Glenealo River. (Obviously there would be options to extend the walk by crossing here and perhaps climbing Camaderry. )
Turn left at the bridge and walk up the valley about 1.8k. Here the valley narrows and brings us under the next objective, spot height 633m, marked on the 1:50k map, an eastern spur of Conavalla.
Reaching this point won't bring you to any particularly notable spot, so just continue to our next main objective, the stone bridge over the Avonbeg (not shown on the OS map though it is on the Harvey map). A good way to reach this is to head for the "Lower Path" as described in the Points Visited.
As you descend and if there is any visibility, look at the side of Table Mtn SE Top for a V shaped gap in the forestry plantation. Your objective is to find the ride which leads to this and then use the V to climb to the top.
From there to Benleagh and then into the hanging valley above Fraughan Rock glen. Beside the stream in this pick up a path heading NE and down and follow this to the forestry track. Avoid a left, continue for around 250m to find a small path (see "Footpath leaves Track" in points visited) and take this downwards as a short cut to the carpark.

Finish
After emerging from the path described above, turn right. If the water level is too high at the ford beside the car park, there is a footbridge a short distance upstream.

Point A: T06759 94493 (turn area map On)
