Bunsen7: Track 3398 in area near Ballineddan Mountain, Dublin/Wicklow (Ireland)
Lug via Ballineddan & Slieve Mann
Length: 11.0km, Creator time taken: 2h47m, Ascent: 783m, Descent: 792m
Places:Start at S98680 90262, Ballineddan Mountain, Slievemaan, Lugnaquilla, end at Start Logged as completed by 1
This is the quickest/shortest route that I think I've taken up Lug (4th visit), and it provided me with the opportunity to tick off 2 additional tops. I think I would recommend this route over the Camara Hill route (though maybe that's only because I had such bad weather on that occasion), at least in winter. I parked in Ballinabarny gap, having driven past the Dwyer McAllister cottage, and folowed the track up through the firebreak. There is little time to limber up on this route as the ascent starts straight away. In the cold frosty winter conditions I had for my ascent, the col between Slieve Mann and Lug was easily crossed. This may be far from the case in summer. There was a fair scattering of snow on this Saturday morning. As ever with Lug, the clouds are not far from arriving. Enjoy any views you get!

Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 3h 30m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
