Onzy: Track 3059 in area near Nowen Hill, Shehy/Knockboy (Ireland)
Nowen Hills
Length: 8.0km, Creator time taken: 1h48m, Ascent: 333m,
Descent: 191m

Places: Start at W13669 54379, Nowen Hill, Nowen Hill SW Top, end at W13728 53054 1.3km S from Start
Logged as completed by 1
Out and back route taking in Nowen Hill and its SW Top from a forest entrance at W137 544.

A forest road leads all the way to the main summit; however there the fun begins ... the SW Top is visible only 1.5k away, but those 1.5k will take you close on 45 minutes. The first thing you will see is a forest right in your path ... thin enough, you might expect to push through easily enough, but that only raises the midges, so you detour south. Then the nature of the terrain bites you; tussocks of elephant grass, bog and waist high grass layered on bog, meaning you arrive on th SW Top, hot, sweaty & itchy. And you still have to get back...

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 9m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
