I was looking for a looped walk locally that would give similar distance and height gain to the Maamturks challenge route. A friend suggested this one so a few of us went and did it. There's a tough pull up from the bridge in Glounreagh when you're 17km into the walk. You'll never get a route down here that's as difficult as the Turks challenge route in terms of terrain, gradient and navigation but it's great training.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 8h 55m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
