simon3: Track 2048 in area near Castle Hill, Slieve Mish (Ireland)
Simple direct route up Castle Hill
Length: 7.2km, Creator time taken: 3h18m, Ascent: 560m,
Descent: 555m

Places: Start at Q76132 03890, Castle Hill, end at Start
Logged as completed by 1
Starting from one of the numerous small roads leading north from the R561, this route goes up the rocky southern spur of Castle Hill. As you ascend a wider and wider view opens out to the south over Dingle Bay. The OSi map shows the public road well here.

We asked for permission and parked at around Q7609 0388, though I think if you keep out of the way that permission is not strictly necessary. The land being crossed is some sort of commonage. There is a possibility that cattle will be grazing with the risks that this can bring. There are also sheep so this is not a route recommended for dogs.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 22m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
