simon3: Track 2039 in area near Spain, Canary Islands ()
Femes to Puerto Calero, Lanzarote via Pico Naos
Length: 12.5km, Creator time taken: 4h55m, Ascent: 481m,
Descent: 783m

Places: Start at Lon -13.7793, Lat 28.913, end at Lon -13.7045, Lat 28.9171 7.3km E from Start
Logged as completed by 1
Start from the high airy village of Femes which you can reach by bus or taxi. Head up the track to the south onto the ridge to the south of the LZ702. The track gains height quickly towards some goat farms. This route however goes via rough but walkable open ground to Aceituna 487 and takes a contouring path to its south before rejoining the main ridge near the goat farm.
Essentially you follow this main ridge NE for some 3k at over 400m taking in two very different views to the arid south and the slightly more humid north, both with nearby vegetation to match.
Keep going over a public dirt track to the west ridge of Naos, then to its ridge of a summit and on to the gently curved Montana Bermeja. Take care coming off this as the East side is pretty steep. The way shown in the track avoids some of this by going down a gully but it may be better to get of this hill by retracing your steps to the col with Naos before heading down.
Follow the track as shown over rough ground passing at one point an astonishing water reservoir which looks like a rectangular pile of stones at any distance. You may even see some off roaders on dune buggies pretending to be Mad Max.
Back then to Puerto Calero and its marina and a cool drink.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 3h 18m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
