A lovely 20Km walk through mixed and interesting terrain. There is good parking available at both ends since this is a two vehicle linear track.

The Track starts at the Mountain Rescue headquarters at Trooperstown and heads up over Paddock Hill before dropping down to cross the Military Road north of Laragh. The track then follows The Wicklow Way across the Glenmacnass River using the footbridge and then up and over the Brockagh Ridge into Glendalough.

From the Glendalough hotel corner it goes under the lovely stone entry arch and crosses the graveyard. Without companionship this may be a touch spookey at night! The track then heads over to the Green Road where you swing right and walk up past the Lower Lake which lies to your right. A bit further on, the track then swings left up beside Pollanass Waterfall, which had been lit up very tastefully and effectively for this event.

You then head up the steps on to the Spink (all 568 of them!). From here it is just a case of following The Wicklow Way along the edge of the cliff and then up ... and up to the col between Mulacor and Lugduff East Top. On the night there was a hard frost but the clear night sky caused the brilliance of the stars to be turned up to their brighest. What a display!

The track then turns back south and south east and dropped down into Glenmalure, again following The Wicklow Way back to the Glenmalure Lodge, where there was rest, relaxation, food, tea, coffee, drink, song, dance and general good fun until the late hours. What a great event.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 5h 27m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
