Historic Hill

What to say ! an historic hill, plenty of literature written about this hill and its troubled past, the hill was the site of a battle involving over 15,000 British troops and a large contingent of United Irish rebels on June 21st 1798. The hill is well signposted from Enniscorthy town, I was able to drive to S98384 39999 A. Parking here for any amount of cars in a well made large carpark. There is a monument here commemorating the battle, behind it is a really well made path that leads to the top, a stroll of about 5mins. There is the remains of an old windmill and a small prominent rocky outcrop at the top of the hill, fantastic views of surrounding countryside and a bird`s eye view of Enniscorthy, if you happen to be in the area well worth a visit. A lovely little hill to kick off 2016 with. The sun even came out! Didn't need to change out of my party gear. Marvelous views for such a small outcrop. Well worth a visit. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/1387/comment/18418/
