The OS 6 map shows the name Knocknasilloge. This is confirmed by the draft place-names order for Gaeltacht areas. Shannawona is a townland name, but one clearly derived from a hill name (Ir. Seanadh means 'slope', and it is also widely used as the name of this area of hilly moorland. Leaca Donna / Lackadunna is the name of a lower peak about 1km SW of the summit.   Cnoc na Saileog is the third highest hill in the South Connemara area and the 1055th highest in Ireland.

Where there is a trig .
by sandman  23 May 2016
Trig points were in operation for a period of circa 20 years and depended on line of sight so that is why at their locations the view is quite good, except in circumstances where after their construction forestry was planted or man made objects appeared. The trig adjacent to this summit is no exception and has fine views. Parking at L9967240301 C ;follow the track uphill through an old farm yard where access can be gained to the open hillside via a pedestrian gate.
