Killaha East and West are townlands in the parish of Tuosist.   Killaha Mountain is the 836th highest summit in Ireland. Killaha Mountain is the most northerly summit in the Caha Mountains area.

3 summits, 2 hours, 1 beautiful location
by Conor74  12 Jun 2010 Took this in as part of a circuit, see Knockeirka and Barraduff details for parking etc. From summit of Barraduff, Killaha due north, again a wire fence leads between the two, again this is met by a number of other fences, again none too difficult. Going difficult enough between the two, lots of boggy areas running east west and some had to be skirted - as we were walking it in June would imagine it could be a lot wetter at just about any other time. This part of the circuit is the toughest going, though again all walking and very little scrambling required. Took about 30 mins to get from peak to peak. Again, views from the top lovely, looking down over Kenmare town and across to Mucksna. Could have taken this in as part of a larger circuit, but we had a deadline. From the top we descended to about 300m at point V9125 6755 (Point A) and managed to spot a track which is not marked on maps, but which helped us move quickly enough to an old ruin at V9195 6769 (Point B). From there it was easy enough to get onto the road, last few minutes on a concrete road. There are a couple of wire fences to cross, but nothing too tricky.

WARNING - (i) All 3 mountains contain a lot of fences for a good reason. Lots of sheep. This really is no place for a dog. At all. And (ii) the 2 hours was really for headline purposes, it took us about 2 hours 20 mins overall from car back to car, and we walked pretty fast, so allow a bit more time...

Second Top of a 3 top round
by three5four0  9 Oct 2011 Climbed Killaha from the minor road that crosses the Castle Rock ridge, via Barraduff Mountain.

From Barraduff Mountain descend north, by a fence, into the col with Killaha mtn, cross at tight re entrant just before the slope steepens and the fence changes direction. Either follow the fence or pick your route more direct through a short section of broken ground to reach the final slope then summit of Killaha mtn. There are fine views down to Kenmare river and Kenmare town, which are situated directly below the summit.
