This peak is located in the townland of Taurmore. Despite the fact that there no substantial archaeological remains to prove it, it is likely that this is the location of the ancient royal site Teamhair Luachra, residence of the south Munster kings, e   Taur is the 808th highest summit in Ireland.

Sanctuary with a view
by sandman  9 Jul 2012 If you are travelling to Kerry why not make the journey feel shorter if like me you come from the north east and visit the two small hills of Taur and Taurbeg .For Taur -at point R22922 09900 you will see a farm track on left side of dormer house both use same entrance from road (so ask permission) follow this track whuch will bring you close to trig and small cairn ,up and down in 30mins inclusive of asking permission no problem with parking.
