Not worth a trip on its own but a nice addition to Shehy More
by thomas_g  8 May 2012
Accessed from Shehy More, it's an easy walk over to Shehy More SW by following the fence along the ridge. I did find the going easier on the south side of the fence (which you must cross to get to Shehy More top anyway).
There appears to be a farm track that goes all the way to W145 597 A (the dip between Shehy More and Shehy SW), which would be an easy route up (with permission from the farmer).
From a distance Shehy SW looks narrow and sharp, but it's neither once you're up close. The location of the top is a little indistinct, with no markings, but it seems to be a fairly obvious tussock on the south side of the fence. There appears to be a farm track that skirts the west of the forestry to the north of Shehy SW, this is a possible easy access (again with permission).
From Shehy SW, I headed back towards the west short of Lough Nambrackderg. I suggest you stay fairly high here as it's very boggy on the NW slope of Shehy More. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/661/comment/6793/
