Longitude: -8.331519, Latitude: 54.364012 Prominence: 20m,   Isolation: 2.4km
ITM: 578454 846201,   GPS IDs, 6 char: Grtngr, 10 char: Gortnagara

This peak is on the upland above the steep cliffs of Glenade. Nearby Glenade Lough is one of many Irish lakes reputedly inhabited by a water-monster called the Dobharchú. Gortnagarn is a townland in the parish of Killasnet. Previously Gortnagara in MV.   Gortnagara is the 636th highest summit in Ireland.

by paddyhillsbagger  18 Mar 2010 After Tievebaun I headed roughly SSE across desolate moorland for the even more desolate plain that is Gortnagara. Couldn't find anything to call the top so chose a peat hag. It's a long walk from Tievebaun and an even longer one back across the moorland to pick up Truskmore access road where we started the days walk. The most exciting thing about Gortnagara isn't it's "top" but the stone circle and other rock formations near the cliff edge at G779 468 (Point A) and G783 467 (Point B) which were the only relief to anotherwise arduous trek for a dull top. Purely for the list tickers!

by NeillHogg  22 Dec 2007 Was going to go up it at eagle rock but an albino on a quad told us there was no walking here and that there were consequences if we went up. This was a couple of years ago,things might have changed but I doubt it.
