Balbane summit area - taken while on a circuit which began at Glengesh Viewpoint, taking in Common Mtn, Cnoc Na Péiste, Balbane Hill and Maol Na nDamh. Others have accurately described the route as far as Balbane, while the leg from Balbane to Maol Na nDamh is similarly damp apart from the section on the Windfarm service road. I did the walk on a scorching hot day following a reasonable dry spell yet these hills were still quite wet, although, not excessively so. Having said that I imagine after any prolonged wet spell this route could become quite a slog. The views from each of the summits (especially the first three) are excellent. The route, just shy of 15k took just under 4.5 hours with the last section (2.5k) on road. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/542/comment/3792/
