Carrickashane is mentioned in PNCW under Mucklagh townland, but no interpretation is given. Carraig an tSionnaigh is possible.   Carrickashane Mountain is the 443rd highest summit in Ireland.

Short Summary created by march-fixer, Harry Goodman  29 Aug 2012 Park at T0854386765 (Point A) on the Military Road. Follow the track uphill SW (signed for the Wicklow Way) for some 900m to T0786786100 (Point B), some 30m short of a point where the track is blocked by several large boulders. Note a cutting to the left into the forest and follow it along SE, over soft and marshy ground, for 132m to where it starts to descend T0792385998 (Point C). Turn right into the trees and go W along a faint track for some 100m to gain the summit, marked by a small stone cairn T0782985976 (Point D), in a small clear grassy area. At the time of writing (April 2012) the trees are on all four sides of the top and completely block out any viewpoint to the surrounding countryside. Return by way of ascent. This is a short peak bagger's walk of 2.2k with little else to commend it.
