Also known as Black Mountain [OSI]. The more common name, Clermont Carn, appeared on the old ½ map. This name records the association with Lord Clermont of Ravensdale, whose residence was Ravensdale Park in the early 19th century.   Clermont Carn is the 527th highest summit in Ireland.

Better known these days as Clermont Cairn, perhaps because the TV transmitter is so called. For the same reason the name Black Mountain is associated with the ITV transmitter near Belfast.
