Bedrock type: Dark blue-grey slate, phyllite & schist, (Maulin Formation)

Cairn on summit. This is an outlier Mount Leinster lying completely in Co. Carlow. Note that there is another hill of this name S of Blackstairs Mountain, though it is spelt Slievebaun in English.   Slievebawn is the 491st highest summit in Ireland.

This is very easy...we did it as the sun was setting (we had to abandon Mount Leinster because of mist,) a good place to start if you are just starting to hill walk. Otherwise not much of a challenge! Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/412/comment/2877/
