This summit can be approached from the Peakeen side. There are parking spaces for a few cars at V917 752 A, where the public road meets the start of a dirt track going Northwards. This is part of the Kerry Way and used to be the old road from Killarney to Kenmare in the 19th Century. As you pass between Peakeen and Knockanguish, stop at the highest point on the road and turn off left. Stay to the North of Peakeen to avoid the cliffs. After the ascent and as soon as the ground levels out, you will see the trig point high up on Peakeen to your left. Follow the spur Westwards and after navigating around some crags and several false summits, you will get to the summit which seems to take quiet a while to get to. There is nothing on the summit except grass. The views from here are really stunning with the turquoise Blue Kenmare Bay below, the mountains of the Beara peninsula and South Kerry in the distance and the Reeks to the North-West. I did this as part of a 3-4 hour walk taking in Peakeen W Top, Peakeen and Knockanaguish. If you are doing it, pick a nice clear sunny day or summer evening. The views are just too nice to waste on a cloudy day. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/374/comment/2301/
