Easily dismissed beside the larger Aghlas and Errigal, Mackoght is none the less well worth the easy walk to it's rocky top. The views and sense of exposure from the western cliffs are better than many higher summits. If it's very dry, take the Altan lough track to it's highest point, then head straight for Beaghy. Great views down to the lough. Then head straight for Mackoght, steep but short. Down to the col between Errigal and contour back round to head for the track you started on, or even better, climb Errigal as well. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/349/comment/1009/
