The name Com Cait Con, which applies properly to the coom to the N of this peak, is understood locally as the 'hollow of the cat and the greyhound'. Thanks to An Brainse Logainmneacha for providing this information. The anglicised form Coomeathcun o   Coomcathcun is the 314th highest summit in Ireland.

Rough, remote and bizarre.
by simon3  29 May 2012 The land south and south-west of this summit above Lough Coumcurrane is quite astonishing for roughness.

Take a look at this section which looks more like goitre than rock.

Towards the bottom right are a few specks of white. These are sheep.
