Picture: Coomavanniha and ridge from Coomavoher.

by simon3  13 Sep 2005 One way of reaching the top is from the ridge on the south of Coomavoher, which is along the line of the wall and fence on the left of the picture. Visible on the skyline streching away from the left side is a broad saddle going from there to the summit. It's a wild ridge where the grain of the land will force you into many detours though it is a little easier on the west side. The ridge has many souvenirs from the ice such as erratics and scraped out ponds.

On the north end of the mountain as you approach along the ridge some curved sedimentary geology is very visible.

Picture: Rugged summit, rugged view.
by simon3  12 Sep 2005 The summit is flattish though very rugged with outcrops. Although not very high and certainly not well known there are views of the coast and north and south along the line of the Iveragh mountains. Knocknagantee to the NE and Coomcallee to the south.

The panorama is towards the SW and shows Coomavanniha Lough just to the left of Coomavanniha summit. On the skyline to the left is confused mass that is Coomeathcun.

Rest assured, when you visit this summit you are unlikely to meet other walkers.
