Steep sided but worth a visit
by YoungJohn  11 Aug 2012 climbed this steep sided mountain, on the way back from Galtybeg, to the old LDF concrete hut? at the top in the company of a hiker I teamed up with that evening. There are concrete blocks on the mountain to the east, these appear to be of old manufacture. My companion beleived these blocks may have had a military purpose as rests for rifle during target practice by the LDF (Land Defence Force) during the Emergency aka WWII. I had passed this mountain a few times whilst traversing the black road but availed of the splendid sunny evening, a rare thing in summer 2012, to tick this off the list. Lovely views of the Galtys and Knockmealdowns...
