I parked in the layby mentioned by oldsoldier and made use of the track noted in his comment to get up onto the mountain. It takes little more than an hour to reach the summit, and on a clear day I can think of few other summits that reward so much for so little effort! The 360 degree views are fantastic, with the sea to the south, the Knockmealdowns and Galtees off to the distance in the west, and the main plateau of the Comeraghs to the north. Add to this the Cutteen South corrie at your feet, and you have a superb mix of panoramas.
I then made the short trip over to Farbreaga before descending to the west of the forest, where I spotted a fawn making a run for it on the Treenearla Commons. First deer I've seen outside Wicklow! The whole walk takes less than two hours. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/249/comment/4369/
