Cloudberries are found on the western slopes. This rare alpine plant resembles the strawberry plant, to which it is related. The fruit are like orange pearls. The OS Memoirs derive the name from Ir. dart, 'a lump', explaining that When viewed at   Dart Mountain is the 245th highest summit in Ireland.

by dino  24 Sep 2007 Came across to Dart from Sawel (see comment on Sawel for route) which was both shorter and easier than it looked and then down the gentle slope to a rough track (bearing in mind Paddy Dillon's warnings on access) which brought us back to the B47. Very enjoyable and a walk that will bring me back to the Sperrins again.
