COMMENTS for Abbey island 1 of 1
A powerful and emotive occasion
by IainT  25 Aug 2017
The graveyard by the abbey ruins was still being used in the 90s (and probably still is), and one of the most atmospheric things I've ever seen was a funeral here. Late in the year, with hail showers scudding across the sand as the coffin was carried over the beach, with 50 or so locals in nothing but black. Could have been any century in the last six.
