Views from way off the road.
by simon3  26 Apr 2011 North East of Coomnacronia there's a high vantage point for looking along the bumpy Dunkerron ridge leading towards Mullaghanattin and allowing views of Beann Far SW Top which appears in this picture with Mullaghanattin/Beann behind it and the Reeks to the left side. Although not shown in this picture there's a great view of Cloon Lough and some parts of the cliffy side of Coomura.
It's curious isn't it how you can't see the famous Mullaghanattin toblerone shape from this angle. The sharper, sunlit triangle beneath Mullaghanattin is BFSWT and the shadowed top on the right skyline is Sallagh.

by simon3  19 Sep 2006 Although there is steep ground to the left and right of this picture, the summit of Beann Far SW is fairly rounded as this picture shows.

Describing the route from Beann to the heights above Lough Reagh (800m to NE of this top) Claude Wall [Mountaineering in Ireland] said of this area "The writer was 'pounded' once while descending one of the valleys opening into the range, which bore an innocent appearance, but at closer quarters consisted of a series of terrace-like cliffs." Be warned.

To the left is An Corrán (Finnararagh) above Lough Comeen, with the plateau that has Knocknagantee to the left and Knockmoyle to the right on the skyline.
