Bedrock type: Aluminous schists, hornblendic rocks, (Barnanoraun Schist Formation)

On the Discovery map this peak is marked as Luggatarriff, a name meaning 'hollow of the bull' which probably applies to a hollow on the slopes of Benfree.   Binn Fraoigh is the 222nd highest summit in Ireland.
