Continuing our anti-clockwise journey around "The Pocket" we came SW then SE from Beann to Beann S Top. Its relatively easy enough going, at least it was for us in the shallow snow. When summit was reached, the next part of our day involved the only real navigation we did as the day was so clear. Having heard reports of access difficulties, we wanted to ensure we went far enough south from Beann S Top not to get into trouble. So rather than go for spot height 531, which by the way looks like it's the quickest and easy way down we made for spot height 381 instead. As you go further along this way it became clear where the way out was. You can now swing E from approx spot 381 down to a gate and follow the track you reach here back to the road, where your car should still be waiting to take you home from this magical place. All in all about 13km and 5 hoursof one's life well spent. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/213/comment/4429/
