ITM: 480846 555459,   GPS IDs, 6 char: Knckwn, 10 char: Knockowen
Bedrock type: Purple & green sandstone & siltstone, (Caha Mountain Formation)

This is the highest peak in the Cahas between the Healy Pass and the Tunnels Road. Knockowen is also the name of a townland in the parish of Tuosist.   Knockowen is the second highest mountain in the Caha Mountains area and the 180th highest in Ireland.

The highest point of the central Caha ridge walk from Healy Pass to Turners rock. Most special feature is the tremendous drop into Glenrastel to the West.
