Worth the detour !!
by David-Guenot  5 Jan 2016
Climbed Altnagaighera as part of a 7-summit trip through this wonderful range of hills (see track 3074) in July 2015. This summit is not very prominent and has little to offer in terms of climbing when approached from the E, but stands proudly at the end of a long shoulder which narrows a bit as you get closer to the top and offers easy walking, with great views all along the way. Best views are over Doughruagh to the SSW, Benchoona to the NE and the Atlantic Ocean to the NW. Really worth the detour !! Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/1444/comment/18416/

Ponds and cobbles...

Another interesting feature of this summit is the cobble conglomerates which can be found along the summit area (see pic). Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/1444/comment/18417/
