This rather colourful name seems to derive from the appearance of the glen on the S side of Sawel. Méabh is the legendary Queen of Connacht who coveted the Brown Bull of Cooley. Her name (Old Irish Medb) means 'she who intoxicates' and in local folklo   Sawel is the highest mountain in the Sperrin Mountains area and the 144th highest in Ireland. Sawel is the highest point in county Derry and also the highest in Tyrone.
