Bedrock type: Granite granophyre, (Mourne Mountains granite)

A substantial tower has been built on the summit. The spot height is given as 704m on the 1:25,000 map, but this does not square with the contours, which only go up to 680m. Spellack (speilic, ' a splintery rock') is a spur on Slieve Meelmore.   Slieve Meelmore is the 141st highest place in Ireland.

Up here on Sun 8/2/04. Trassey car park, Trassey track, then left to Slieve Bernagh/Meelmore col. On to the top, then Meelbeg, and return. A bit of snow and sunshine gave us a super day out. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/138/comment/848/
