BILLNOR on Slieve Meelmore, 2006
by BILLNOR  12 Apr 2006
Sunday 9th April 2006 my wife and I Started our walk from Meelmore Lodge walking along the lane upto the stile at the stone wall. We crossed over and walked around the base of Slieve Meelmore until we reached the rough pathway halfway up the valley between Meelbeg and Meelmore and then followed the river ontowards the Mourne wall on the shoulder between the two.Watch your footing here, as the path runs out the ground gets a bit uneven and is at times boggy.
When we got to the wall crossed over the stile a snow storm came in very fast sweeping up the valley rushed over the wall then it was a white out. We continued on to the top of Meelmore we could only see snow so turned back the way we came. When we arrived at the stile between Meelmore and Meelbeg the snow lightened up so we climbed Meelbeg as we reached the top the snow hit again and was now 2-3 inches deep we had to slow down as it became very slippy underfoot. We returned to Meelmore Lodge the way we came. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/138/comment/2266/
