Bencorr's close relative
Short Summary created by Colin Murphy,  25 Jun 2014
This 'top' does not have sufficient prominence to register on any lists and is usually done in conjunction with Bencorr or as part of Glencoaghan Horseshoe. it is 300 to the NW of Bencorr itself and rises from a col just 20m or so below, although on all other sides it has a fairy precipitous drop. It has a well defined summit with a cairn and has wonderful views of the horseshoe and Lough Inagh to the east. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/124/comment/4884/

Picture: Binn Chorr's western aspect (leading to North Top) from Mám na bhFonsai col

The descent from Binn Dubh to a height on the col/saddle at Mám na bhFonsai 80606 52408 A, below Bencorr’s North Top is reasonably straightforward albeit a little more difficult as you near the narrow area of the saddle. From here Binn Chorr’s western aspect towers upwards, it’s steep rocky side presenting a formidable façade. There is a well-worn path of loose shale and rock, which wends it’s way up in zig-zag fashion but some of us decided to take a more straight-as-the-crow-flies approach. Regardless, we still had to negotiate very loose shale/rock especially as we approached the top. Nearer still to the top we had to engage in a degree of scrambling in order to reach the cairn 81053 52376 B. Views from here are again breathtaking (see Binn Chorr). From the cairn it is a short distance south to the main summit. Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/124/comment/2329/

The view from Binn Corr is fantastic. It is a great vantage point to see the Giants Chair which is formed by the coum to the East of Binn Bhraoin Trackback: http://mountainviews.ie/summit/124/comment/2210/
