Lilliputian spotted in Sperrins
by Colin Murphy  1 Mar 2011 Mullaghbane was the final top on a circular walk that also took in Carnanelly and Carnanelly W top. Following the track from the car park at Goles Forest (point 684 938 (Point A)), we left the track at 685 930 (Point B) and headed SE until we reached the minor hill named Slieveaddy on OS map. (Not listed on MV) From there we turned west for 2km until we reached Carnanelly. Another short trot 1 km brought us to Carnanelly W. Top. Heading NW another 1km brings you to Mullaghbane, the top of which is speckled with some stunted trees, but is otherwise featureless. The pole in the shot is a short way from the summit and the perspective gives the impression of a Lilliputian man standing on top of it! In actual fact, my colleague is standing on the highest point of the hill. From there we headed NNE back towards the road, reaching our car after a walk of precisely 4 hours and 10.5km.
Point A: H684 938 Point B: H685 930 (turn area map On)

Thank you kevin carroll. If I can put a smile on that contrary face, the Matterhorn should be a cakewalk.
