Well worth a detour.
by FilHil  8 Apr 2012 I enquired at the one and only shop at Croghan Demesne. Staff were very friendly and allowed me to park the car on their forecourt. There is additional parking further up the road near the school.

Take the narrow tarmac road opposite the shop up to the water reservoir. Go through a metal gate and up a short section of stony and muddy track turning into a field, then through the adjacent field up a grassy slope. There were no cattle on the day (free grazing). The old cemetery will be visible from the contour. Stunning views all around especially over the turf cutting areas.

A lovely hill well worth a detour!
