Not sure if Long mtn is the correct name as the 'Long mountain' marked on the map is about 1.5kms to the South. Very easy to get to from the public road to the East. Start at R 662 168(Point A) and follow the path up the hill. Nice views from the top. The picture shows the summit as seen from Seefin, about 800 mtrs to the West. As you can see, there are 2 summits with a path running between them. On the map, it is not obvious which is the higher one but the one to the East is definetly higher. Going by the slope and contour line, I'd estimate the summit is at about 513 mtrs ASL. On the summit, there are 2 cairns. One is circular like the ones where people shelter from the wind. The other one is just a pile of stones.

One of the cairns on Long mountain which I took in on a circuit with Seefin. The view is looking back at Seefin , the trig pillar that marks Seefins summit is on top of the fifth rock from the left. On the right hand side overlooking Ardpatrick is Black Rock Mountain which doesn't quite make it as an independent peak. The tracks around here are fairly boggy so watch where you step if you don't want a boot full of water. Passed through the Ballyhouras on our way down to Beara just before Patrick's Day. As we only had just over an hour to spare, there was no time to do the summit, but we did explore the attractive woodland on the western slopes. We parked at a lay-by in Glenosheen and headed up from here. There are several circuits for walkers and mountain-bikers waymarked here. If only all Irish hill areas were as well maintained and promoted as the Ballyhouras! (Comment Rating 3.00)

Headed onto Long Mountain having visited Seefin. Very easy walk to get there but summit is very exposed and was difficult to stand my ground when the wind got up. Small circular cairn on the top and a good view of the Galtees to the east. Followed the blue arrows to return to the Greenwood car park.

Climbed this on the way up to Seefin. It has this, what I presume to be, a shelter. Dont know if it has any mytical connections. On an otherwise decent day, the wind was unreal, actually knocked me over! So unfortunately all my pics came out shaky! (Comment Rating 1.00)
