Another small achievement
by ahendroff  26 May 2010 Unlike my 500th, my 600th MV summit was done solo, on a late spring evening under an azure blue sky. The circuit of the Rabach's glen was tackled in clockwise fashion starting from the farmhouse at the end of the road (a charge of 4 euro applies) in the Pocket. Fabulous views all round of all the Caha mountains and Iveragh peninsula. Ended up walking most of the Caha's in four consecutive days: just about 90km of distance and slightly over 4,500m of ascent. A special mention to dbloke who joined me the day after for muted celebrations of my previous day's achievements (still unknown to me at that time for I wasn't 100% sure which was my 600th MV summit before checking MV itself later on ... yea, it's got to that stage) and a set of enjoyable walks (yes, walks) on Hungry Hill, some remote corrie lakes and a few more tops elsewhere, followed by not the most memorable fish and chips you'd want to purchase in Castletownbere........c'est la vie!

by eoin  23 Apr 2004 This summit is surprisingly rocky and follows a relatively twisted descent from Tooth Mountain (veering close to the steep sided edge of the valley avoids large rock steps which are slow to negotiate and steep). Not terribly spectacular or dramatic but the views into the rocky Rabach's Glen are excellent. This walk is part of the Cummeengeera Horseshoe walk.

Mount Gabriel: Does driving up count?

I'll be honest, it was 25degrees and the sun was beating down. Tipp and Waterford were on the field and I could hear the clash of the ash over the car radio. So I said feckit, and drove up. ...

Conor74, I'd suggest that you could climb Shehy Mor (and combine it with Djouce and Doughill mountains for a longer walk). The best access for climbing Shehy Mor is from the unclassified road whic...
