by pdowd  26 Aug 2004 There seems to be some confusion between Black Rock mountain (599m) and Mount Leinster East Top (654m). Black Rock mountain is not available on the site and is the most easterly of the Blackstairs mountains. Perhaps it should be added as 599m meters certainly seems to qualify. csd's photos are of Black Rock mountain. The top photo shows Mount Leinster East Top in the middle ground. I trust this helps.

by milo  2 Aug 2002 As it is a considerable distance from the main summit I prefer to call it Black Rock Mountain, as the O.S. did.

by csd  7 Mar 2004 The views from the top of Back Rock Mountain are almost as good as those from Mt Leinster itself. Makes an ideal stop on a circuit of Ballycrystal. Picture shows the summit cairn and the view towards Mt Leinster itself.

by mneary34  29 Nov 2004 Looking at Mount Leinster East Top from Mt. Leinster with Black Rock Mountain in the background as per the photo. Parts of this short route were particularly damp and boggy in contrast with most of the surrounding mountains.

by csd  7 Mar 2004 The cairn and view north from Black Rock Mountain. The southern end of the Wicklow Mountains are just visible on the horizon.

by sbender  13 Sep 2009 Looking at the OSi map 68, I see that the prominence of Blackrock Mountain is less than 30m from the main ridge, maybe that's why its not included in the list.

Conor74, I'd suggest that you could climb Shehy Mor (and combine it with Djouce and Doughill mountains for a longer walk). The best access for climbing Shehy Mor is from the unclassified road whic...
