by gerrym  30 May 2008 Approach from Butlers Glen and Raghtin More to the N. From the higher top of Raghtin More this hill does not look out of place amongst the rugged line of hills heading S to Lough Swilly. There is an easy drop down to a col with some pools of water and a short climb to the cairn at the top of Crockmain. There are fantastic views in all directions, except N which is blocked by Raghtin More. The view S is by far the most captivating over a number of sharp tops backed by the blue waters of Lough Swilly.
There is a long drop down continuing in a southerly direction on good ground, with the odd wild orchid adding colour. The view to Mamore Hill is very impressive and a daunting looking climb. The col brings a track which povides alternative and easier access from the carpark on the road to Mamore Gap.

by eflanaga  8 Nov 2007 Climbed on a bright November afternoon, having already bagged Sliabh Main & Sliabh Snaght in the morning, there were only a few hours of daylight left by the time I reached the car park at Mamore Viewpoint IC317 443 (Point A), in order to try to bag Crockmain and the two Raghtins. Turned out I didn't have enough time to take in the smaller of the Raghtin tops. Leaving the car park I followed the rough track running east up and over Spot Ht 206 IC324 442 (Point B) eventually taking northern turn and ascending onto western flank of Crockmain. Made my way across the flank at a height of approximately 360m until roughly level with summit area before ascending sharply to the top. Raghtin Mor beckoned a short distance NNW.
