What Are They On??
Context of comment:The Smithsonian Institution has Tara on its list of 15 must see endangered cultural treasures in the world. They describe it as a '510 ft knoll'. That's 155m. Wikipedia says its elevation is 197m and its prominence is 180m. Scarpania's O.S. map has it at 159m. Mountainforecast.com lists it at 196m. Whatever. Someone from about.com wrote that on a clear day, Tara 'allows a glimpse of no less than 25% of the Irish mainland'. Might be a fanciful figure, but it must mean its a hill.

Surprisingly Donegal islands have a very good mobile internet reception, sometimes better than in an office in Dublin.

Now living furth of Scotland and getting to know the Irish hills. If you come across a Scottish hill Walker with dodgy knees and walking sedately, stop and say hello.
