Tracks - Automatic Calculation of Ascent
Context of comment:While we are on the subject of Tracks, may I mention a point of concern? My Track 1511 (Owenglin Circuit) would have involved actual ascent "on the ground" of circa 1700 metres. The automatic calculator shows ascent at 875 metres. Message:Is it possible that the fact that I switched off my GPS while not moving on a couple of occasions interfered with the calculations? The switch offs did not interfere with the other functions. For example, the duration and distance appear be be spot on. I had to switch off on one occasion to change batteries. Additional points:The Tracks addition deeply enriches the educational and community aspects of this site. I would urge members to test the add-on Track features available by drawing down the two menus at the side of the Map. I am thrilled with the ability to show shading and contours. This is moving the site to the very forefront of the emerging technology. A big thanks to Simon and all who sail with him on this one! NB Walking World Ireland is moving into the same territory. thomas_g 2 weeks ago. Climbed this today, it looks awful from the road, but once you're on the slope it's not that bad. There is the odd ankle twisting hole, but it's fairly easy to navigate the shelves to the top. Abo... |
