"User grid refs on OS map." from simon3 Expand pics
User grid refs on OS map. (Expand pics)
User grid refs and maps.
Context of comment:Finding User Gridrefs. Where there is a grid reference in the comment for a mountain, the system will now find it. It will then be highlighted and put onto any maps that are visible as a red triangle.

This is very handy if you want to illustrate where you started from and other points of interest. If you want to see the feature in use have a look at for example "Knockmeal" on which there are three user grid refs. As well as showing the user grid refs on the small lower navigation map (at the left) it will also show them on the OSI map (not yet Northern Ireland). Note that it is possible to move the middle of the OS map to wherever you click on it.

The following sorts of grid reference will be accepted:
R123123, R 123123, 123123 and other small variations

R1234512345, R 1234512345, 1234512345 and other small variations

When a letter is not given then the system will guess what you mean from the mountain area you are posting in. However it is always preferable to put the letter in.
