GPS inaccuracy
Hi all. Can anyone explain why my eTrex is giving greviously innaccurate coordinates for summits? Or even better suggest a solution? Some examples include Preban Hill. The gps recorded it as IT 08539 79832. A glance at the map shows that this puts the summit many hundreds of metres North of where it is on the map. Also Ott Mountain. My gps recorded it as IJ 28319 27634. Again this coordinate is hundreds of metres North of the summit on the map. In both cases the Eastings seem close enough but the Northings are way off. My gps is set to Irish Grid. The Map Datum is WGS 84. Units-metric. North Ref-Grid. Variance-001 East. In the past other coordinates recorded at summits were quite accurate so not sure what's going on. I would appreciate any help.
