The Hiberno Scot writer, Bleck Cra, was posthumously awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2050 for his Book of Essays “Death becomes Us All, Sooner or Later”. Read the extract below and answer the following questions:
What are the central themes of this short essay? What is the writer’s view on “age”? Is there a disguised subtext?
The piece, though formally addressed to the hill walking community, may communicate a deeper message to a wider group. To whom is the writer actually speaking?
Describe the emotional state of the author. Does his mood alter as the crux is reached?
