All Leinster County Tops in 24 Hours
It was Kieron Gribbon's book that originally got this idea into my head! Has anyone else tried it before?? I have worked out the details of my attempt at it this summer. Being a Louth man I had to finish on top of Foye, so that has a bit of a bearing on the route that I have chosen. I estimate the driving time on this route to be 9 hours, the walking time should be 12 hours, so that leaves 5 hours of a buffer for delays, stops, rests etc. I was thinking of starting from the top of Corn Hill around 8am on a Saturday morning, as you can see the first four summits are all easy, then a couple of descent walks in the south of the province, before the one grade five walk of the day! Once off the Lug before dark, that leaves Kildare and Dublin to be done in the dark. Both have access roads to the summit, so no problem tackling them in the dark (and Cupidstown might actually be better in the dark!!). Back in the wee county and in Glenmore by 6am gives two hours to get up to the top of Louth! Everything up until Mount Leinster is really easy and the challenge only really starts here. A long bright summers day with a full moon would be ideal me thinks!

This summit, at least on the approach from Glenbeg Lough, is characterised by the number of false summits that emerge as you gain height.
