Re Necessity
The website is structured to consider the time constraints of modern work and life. We promote the County Highpoints as a way of doing an interesting, all-Ireland but short list. We introduced the Local 100 to make it easier for people on a limited time budget to have something to complete.

Personally for years and years when I had small children, a demanding job and not too much loolah I could rarely get out. Whole years went by with perhaps one expedition (often the Maamturks). So the website allows people to contribute nationally without a huge commitment of time in making the contribution be it via the summit comment or the GPS track. (This is one of the distinctions we have with MI, who despite improving many things, simply haven't grasped the point and persist in saying hillwalkers do not contribute to their magazine enough.)

Last year I completed the Vandeleur-Lynams. It had taken about 45 years, with none being summited for years on end at times, but eventually as constraints reduced I was able to increase the rate.

So I salute CaptainVertigo's ingenious bicycle-assisted megawalks and predict things will probably be easier in future. Sorry if I gave the impression I didn't.

This summit, at least on the approach from Glenbeg Lough, is characterised by the number of false summits that emerge as you gain height.
