Re The Creation
Its an old argument that science ruins wonder, and appreciation for nature, and one that I think has been answered, (and why Genesis, not some other creation myth - there are thousands to choose from!). Keats and Newton and "unweaving the rainbow" is an old example of this debate. For me, it only adds to the sense of wonder to know, thanks to Science, while walking in the Sperrins that they are the weathered remains of mountains once higher than the Himalayas, requiring a vast amount of time that Genesis would not permit. If I'm looking at the Giant's Causeway, my wonder is increased by knowing its true origins, rather than believing a plaque placed there by a deluded politician telling me it might be only 6000 years old.
